Wind: OneUp

The OneUp is SlingFin's all-around Alpine/Mountaineering tent featuring our patented, award-winning WebTruss™ Technology. It is eminently configurable for use as a double-wall basecamp tent, a single-wall mess tent or comm dome, or bomber high camp tent for 4+ people.

It includes our hexagonal inner tent body, which sleeps 4+ people and features 4 windows/vents.

Use it with just the fly as a shade structure, or add the footprint for a fully enclosed single-wall dome. Clip in the tent body to turn it into a 4-season expedition shelter. It's extremely strong, and lighter than other tents in its class for the space it provides. The flysheet is made of silicone-coated nylon, and 6 equal-length poles allow for a quick and easy setup.

Wind: Hardshell

The SlingFin Hardshell is the winner of the 2013 OutDoor Industry Gold Award for outstanding achievement in design and innovation.

According to Outdoor Gear Lab, "The SlingFin HardShell tent is the equivalent of Air Force One for mountain climbers and polar explorers... We suspect that the HardShell is the best 3-4 person four-season dome tent on the planet."

The HardShell has been tested on the largest mountains across the globe, serving even as a wind block for other tents. It goes up quickly and intuitively, even in harsh conditions, thanks to four equal-length poles and a WebTruss™ system. It includes a two-pole High Wind Kit that adds even more strength when the weather turns ugly. The WebTruss™ effectively locks the poles in place, independent of the tent and fly, giving the structure maximum strength with or without the tent body. The HardShell is an ideal basecamp or mid-mountain shelter for four people, or three plus plenty of gear.

UV: Tent Fabrics & Sun Damage

From our experience making tents, we know that UV is the only thing that will inevitably kill a properly cared-for tent (as long as you didn’t buy a tent with PU-coated fabrics), but we wanted to know just how quickly that destruction takes place. Is UV really all that much of a factor in tent lifespan? How much do you have to use a tent for it to get UV-cooked? Is polyester really better than nylon, and if so, by how much?
